Judgment Mind to Pragmatic Compassion
Don’t judge yourself so harshly.
Be pragmatic.
Look to the real consequences self-inflicted pain causes.
See to it that there is a better way.
Compassion can be both soft and fierce—both round and luminous, and sharp and one-pointed with penetrating clarity.
Whether distant in the vast field of awareness, or intimately involved and engaged in the fine details of the moment… don’t limit the potentiality of compassionate play in your life.

In many cases, we judge ourselves for what is lacking or missing. We see what has been or hasn’t been done in negative valences.
Yet, when we broaden our perspective, we see that all of this self-involved nonsense is constrained to a vision and a contracted persona far too small.
The scope of influence simply doesn’t account for enough to be an honest reflection of reality.
From the vantage point of natural awareness (inherently whole, intrinsically loving), we can step out of self-absorbed, myopic chains of causation and place ourselves in the larger, deeper, longer, more thorough, and comprehensive chain of being.
On one level, we can shift from self-blame or blame of others to a genuine and curious study of origination.
Where does a behavior, a mood, a thought, a pattern really come from? This curiosity moves us from judgment to another mode of being much more useful to the flow of life.
Once we are set loose on a new mode with wiggle room to play from the grip of judgment, we can start to exercise a freedom and agency more perennial to our true nature.
At first, if we aren’t careful, this movement into more freedom and agency can cause us to reconstruct into more self-judgment… because we see how wrong we have gone, and all the other choices we could have made. Surely we deserve the downward spiral?
Watch out for the mechanisms of shame here, for they always compel a tragic self-defeating logic.
No matter what story is being woven by the sub-selves, the truth is, a wider freedom always exists, and the moment it is turned toward, it will spontaneously liberate us to act from the wellspring of infinite choice and empowerment again and again. It is an inexhaustible goodness!
Once we gain momentum on the track toward freedom and agency, we can recognize a deeper level still—where self-identification becomes more and more transparent to the whole. Here we can rest into such a deep web of interpenetrating fields of causality that we become less and less the judger and the judged, and more and more awareness itself, already infused with compassionate activity.
This movement into this kind of intrinsic awareness is so important because it is a space that naturally heals, free of charge, just built into the fabric of reality.
True rest at this level is liberating.
The more familiar one becomes with its mysterious healing juju, the more it can engender a deep trust that redemptive action and skillful repair will spontaneously emerge.
This is wonderful and life-giving news.
